Flowers on the bridge
When DMRC Board member Mary Cabot visited Europe, she fell in love with the European custom of placing cascading flower baskets on bridges over their rivers. Her dream to do the same with the bridge over the Cuyahoga in Mantua Village became reality in 2015, following construction of a new bridge on State Route 44.
Mary collected donations to purchase baskets and flowers, orchestrated DMRC management of the project, and engaged volunteers to maintain this beautify addition to downtown.
Headwaters Trail Collaboration
DMRC initiated and continues to host quarterly meetings with surrounding community leaders, including representatives from Aurora, Mantua Township, Hiram, Garrettsville, Mantua Rotary, Mantua-Shalersville Area Chamber of Commerce, Garrettsville Rotary, Portage Parks District, and Portage County Regional Planning.
